Why Some Stories Are Missing from American History

When I published Letters: Education By Gutiérrez (2025), a collection of 71 short essays, I ended with the partnership between Trump and Musk. Now, they are feuding. Trump holds the billions in federal contracts that made Musk the richest man in the world. Musk, however, already controls the universe with his network of Starlink satellites and rockets that bring back US astronauts from space and make our internet run worldwide. Things change; even for the worse.

What began as a campaign promise to deport 1.5 million criminal migrants from US soil has now turned into an authoritarian move to make California a police state, beginning in Los Angeles, the second largest city in the country. Then, it was and still is Minnesota, namely Minneapolis. The federalized National Guard is also patrolling streets in Washington, D.C., Portland, Oregon, Chicago, Illinois, and making ready for Memphis, Tennessee. The US population is facing nationwide repression by federal agents from ICE, Homeland Security, FBI, Border Patrol, National Guard troops, and US Marines; about 6,700 total.  Add the local police from the city, county,  and state and you reach about 10,000 soldiers and officers going after protesters with tear gas, foam bullets, batons, and deadly firearms ready to shoot real bullets. ICE has nationwide television ads offering a $50,000 signing bonus for anyone wanting to work with them. ICE is also offering unaccompanied children 14 years and older held in detention a $2,500 stipend to self-deport to their home countries. As a reaction to the repression in Los Angeles, more protests have taken place in San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Chicago, San Francisco, New York, Portland, and Sacramento, to name a few. More took place on June 14th to protest Trump’s birthday military parade in D.C. Trump wants to militarized all the Blue states first, especially those cities with Black mayors, then the rest.

In Minneapolis, thousands of untrained, undisciplined, unrestrained and completely immunized from prosecution for all their illegal actions including murder. Two unarmed defenseless people have been murdered by the Immigration Control Enforcement (ICE) and Border Patrol. This militarization taking over Minneapolis is called Operation Metro Surge.

Nationalizing Elections

Now, wants to suspend the upcoming 2026 mid-term General elections. His supporters in various states have already begun to purge voters from the registration list, add restrictions for compliance with proof of US citizenship to register to vote, and encouraged states to follow the Texas example of redistricting congressional seats in 2025. Texas has eliminated five previously drawn districts that elected Democrats. He wants all states to vacate congressional seats held by Democrats. He wants to continue to rule Congress absolutely. He has sued the major media conglomerates and major law firms. They all bent their knees and paid millions to quiet these lawsuits. Only when the public protested, like when ABC/Disney fired entertainer Jimmy Kimmel, did Trump back off. But he is not quitting. He wants to replace anyone and everyone who disagrees with him.

Thousands have been arrested by the federal agents so far and many of them deported to countries not of their origin. They are charged with federal crimes but not served or afforded any semblance of due process. Local police in some of these cities have begun to arrest some protestors as well, as in Dilley, Texas. Those will, however, be charged with state crimes. What is a good tactic against local, county, and state offenses only, especially if you do not have a lawyer is to plead not guilty, ask for a court appointed lawyer, and a jury trial. The judicial system cannot handle such a load or expense. Once you can make contact with friends, relatives, neighbors, co-workers, fellow students or anyone that know of a person being detained, here are more suggestions. This is not legal advice either. Go visit them in jail. Offer to feed their pets; water the lawn and plants; move food items in the refrigerator to the freezer; move their car, motorbike, bicycle, moped, skate board, secure their homes and or apartment, and the like to a safer place, contact loved ones on their behalf, as well as teachers, professors, pastors, neighbors, and employers. Visit their employers and explain the situation; demand they not fire or suspend the ones in jail.

The Federal judiciary is a quagmire and getting worse now that Trump has the green light to keep doing this. SCOTUS just ruled that an injunction against him and his practices are only good within the jurisdictional area of the federal district . In other words, not until Trump is enjoined in every federal district will this dictatorial madness stop. It won’t’ and by chance if something close happens on this point, the Supremes will bail him out again.  Careful with the feds, especially the ones in disguise.

The governors of states where federal agents and military have been deployed did not ask for the national guard. In fact, most are opposed beginning with the California, Illinois and Minnesota governors. Local city officials in the cities mentioned above did not ask for the national guard much less the soldiers to patrol their city streets. Any protest is met with detention and more provocation. That is what Trump wants to send more troops and lie louder that these cities are centers for terrorists.

I suggest we follow up  the national boycott ball rolling as a protest to Trump’s continued illegal and unconstitutional policies. No Compro, No Trabajo.  Let’s do it again on the anniversary of the Mexican Revolution which is November 20th. It is a Thursday this year. We should all pledge to not buy or work on that day. If you have to make up a health excuse, take vacation time, personal leave for business, or something like that if you are concerned of retribution. Make signs with those words, NO Compro y NO Trabajo, and put them in your front window and yard, on a side window of your vehicles, print tee-shirts, tell everyone of the boycott. We can stop this country and layoff Trump. We do not need him, as he has said about all the laid off and furloughed federal employees.
